Hosea 2 - Listen
1
Say
ye unto your brethren,
Ammi;
and to your sisters,
Ruhamah.
2
Plead
with your mother,
plead:
for she is not my wife,
neither am I her husband:
let her therefore put away
her whoredoms
out of her sight,
and her adulteries
from between her breasts;
3
Lest I strip
her naked,
and set
her as in the day
that she was born,
and make
her as a wilderness,
and set
her like a dry
land,
and slay
her with thirst.
4
And I will not have mercy
upon her children;
for they be the children
of whoredoms.
5
For their mother
hath played the harlot:
she that conceived
them hath done shamefully:
for she said,
I will go
after
my lovers,
that give
me my bread
and my water,
my wool
and my flax,
mine oil
and my drink.
6
Therefore, behold, I will hedge
up thy way
with thorns,
and make
a wall,
that she shall not find
her paths.
7
And she shall follow
after her lovers,
but she shall not overtake
them; and she shall seek
them, but shall not find
them: then shall she say,
I will go
and return
to my first
husband;
for then was it better
with me than now.
8
For she did not know
that I gave
her corn,
and wine,
and oil,
and multiplied
her silver
and gold,
which they prepared
for Baal.
9
Therefore will I return,
and take away
my corn
in the time
thereof, and my wine
in the season
thereof, and will recover
my wool
and my flax
given to cover
her nakedness.
10
And now will I discover
her lewdness
in the sight
of her lovers,
and none
shall deliver
her out of mine hand.
11
I will also cause all her mirth
to cease,
her feast days,
her new moons,
and her sabbaths,
and all her solemn feasts.
12
And I will destroy
her vines
and her fig trees,
whereof she hath said,
These are my rewards
that my lovers
have given
me: and I will make
them a forest,
and the beasts
of the field
shall eat
13
And I will visit
upon her the days
of Baalim,
wherein she burned incense
to them, and she decked
herself with her earrings
and her jewels,
and she went
after
her lovers,
and forgat
me, saith
the LORD.
14
Therefore, behold, I will allure
her, and bring
her into the wilderness,
and speak
comfortably
15
And I will give
her her vineyards
from thence, and the valley
of Achor
for a door
of hope:
and she shall sing
there, as in the days
of her youth,
and as in the day
when she came up
out of the land
of Egypt.
16
And it shall be at that day,
saith
the LORD,
that thou shalt call
me Ishi;
and shalt call
me no more Baali.
17
For I will take away
the names
of Baalim
out of her mouth,
and they shall no more be remembered
by their name.
18
And in that day
will I make
a covenant
for them with the beasts
of the field,
and with the fowls
of heaven,
and with the creeping things
of the ground:
and I will break
the bow
and the sword
and the battle
out of the earth,
and will make them to lie down
safely.
19
And I will betroth
thee unto me for ever;
yea, I will betroth
thee unto me in righteousness,
and in judgment,
and in lovingkindness,
and in mercies.
20
I will even betroth
thee unto me in faithfulness:
and thou shalt know
the LORD.
21
And it shall come to pass in that day,
I will hear,
saith
the LORD,
I will hear
the heavens,
and they shall hear
the earth;
22
And the earth
shall hear
the corn,
and the wine,
and the oil;
and they shall hear
Jezreel.
23
And I will sow
her unto me in the earth;
and I will have mercy
upon her that had not obtained mercy;
*
and I will say
to them which were not my people,
Thou art my people;
and they shall say,
Thou art my God.
21
I will hear
the heavens,
and they shall hear
the earth;
22
And the earth
shall hear
the corn,
and the wine,
and the oil;
and they shall hear
Jezreel.
23
And I will sow
her unto me in the earth;
and I will have mercy
upon her that had not obtained mercy;
*
and I will say
to them which were not my people,
Thou art my people;
and they shall say,
Thou art my God.

Joshua 2 - Listen
1
And Joshua
the son
of Nun
sent
out of Shittim
two
men
to spy
secretly,
saying,
Go
view
the land,
even Jericho.
And they went,
and came
into an harlot's
house,
*
named
Rahab,
and lodged
2
And it was told
the king
of Jericho,
saying,
Behold, there came
men
in hither to night
of the children
of Israel
to search out
the country.
3
And the king
of Jericho
sent
unto Rahab,
saying,
Bring forth
the men
that are come
to thee, which are entered
into thine house:
for they be come
to search out
all the country.
4
And the woman
took
the two
men,
and hid
them, and said
thus, There came
men
unto me, but I wist
not whence
5
And it came to pass about the time of shutting
of the gate,
when it was dark,
that the men
went out:
whither the men
went
I wot
not: pursue
after
them quickly;
for ye shall overtake
6
But she had brought them up
to the roof
of the house, and hid
them with the stalks
of flax,
which she had laid in order
upon the roof.
7
And the men
pursued
after
them the way
to Jordan
unto the fords:
and as soon as they which pursued
after
them were gone out,
they shut
the gate.
8
And before they were laid down,
she came up
unto them upon the roof;
9
And she said
unto the men,
I know
that the LORD
hath given
you the land,
and that your terror
is fallen
upon us, and that all the inhabitants
of the land
faint
because
10
For we have heard
how the LORD
dried up
the water
of the Red
sea
for you,
when ye came out
of Egypt;
and what ye did
unto the two
kings
of the Amorites,
that were on the other side
Jordan,
Sihon
and Og,
whom ye utterly destroyed.
11
And as soon as we had heard
these things, our hearts
did melt,
neither did there remain
any more courage
in any man,
because
of you: for the LORD
your God,
he is God
in heaven
above,
and in earth
12
Now therefore, I pray you, swear
unto me by the LORD,
since
I have shewed
you kindness,
that ye will also shew
kindness
unto my father's
house,
and give
me a true
token:
13
And that ye will save alive
my father,
and my mother,
and my brethren,
and my sisters,
and all that they have, and deliver
our lives
from death.
14
And the men
answered
her, Our life
for yours,
if ye utter
not this our business.
And it shall be, when the LORD
hath given
us the land,
that we will deal
kindly
and truly
15
Then she let them down
by a cord
through
the window:
for her house
was upon the town
wall,
and she dwelt
upon the wall.
16
And she said
unto them, Get
you to the mountain,
lest the pursuers
meet
you; and hide
yourselves there three
days,
until the pursuers
be returned:
and afterward
may ye go
your way.
17
And the men
said
unto her, We will be blameless
of this thine oath
which thou hast made us swear.
18
Behold, when we come
into the land,
thou shalt bind
this line
of scarlet
thread
in the window
which thou didst let us down by:
and thou shalt bring
thy father,
and thy mother,
and thy brethren,
and all thy father's
household,
home
19
And it shall be, that whosoever
shall go out
of the doors
of thy house
into the street,
his blood
shall be upon his head,
and we will be guiltless:
and whosoever shall be with thee in the house,
his blood
shall be on our head,
if any hand
20
And if thou utter
this our business,
then we will be quit
of thine oath
which thou hast made us to swear.
21
And she said,
According unto your words,
so be it. And she sent them away,
and they departed:
and she bound
the scarlet
line
in the window.
22
And they went,
and came
unto the mountain,
and abode
there three
days,
until the pursuers
were returned:
and the pursuers
sought
them throughout all the way,
but found
23
So the two
men
returned,
and descended
from the mountain,
and passed over,
and came
to Joshua
the son
of Nun,
and told
him all things that befell
24
And they said
unto Joshua,
Truly
the LORD
hath delivered
into our hands
all the land;
for even all the inhabitants
of the country
do faint
because
