Hosea 2 - Listen
1
Say
ye unto your brethren,
Ammi;
and to your sisters,
Ruhamah.
2
Plead
with your mother,
plead:
for she is not my wife,
neither am I her husband:
let her therefore put away
her whoredoms
out of her sight,
and her adulteries
from between her breasts;
3
Lest I strip
her naked,
and set
her as in the day
that she was born,
and make
her as a wilderness,
and set
her like a dry
land,
and slay
her with thirst.
4
And I will not have mercy
upon her children;
for they be the children
of whoredoms.
5
For their mother
hath played the harlot:
she that conceived
them hath done shamefully:
for she said,
I will go
after
my lovers,
that give
me my bread
and my water,
my wool
and my flax,
mine oil
and my drink.
6
Therefore, behold, I will hedge
up thy way
with thorns,
and make
a wall,
that she shall not find
her paths.
7
And she shall follow
after her lovers,
but she shall not overtake
them; and she shall seek
them, but shall not find
them: then shall she say,
I will go
and return
to my first
husband;
for then was it better
with me than now.
8
For she did not know
that I gave
her corn,
and wine,
and oil,
and multiplied
her silver
and gold,
which they prepared
for Baal.
9
Therefore will I return,
and take away
my corn
in the time
thereof, and my wine
in the season
thereof, and will recover
my wool
and my flax
given to cover
her nakedness.
10
And now will I discover
her lewdness
in the sight
of her lovers,
and none
shall deliver
her out of mine hand.
11
I will also cause all her mirth
to cease,
her feast days,
her new moons,
and her sabbaths,
and all her solemn feasts.
12
And I will destroy
her vines
and her fig trees,
whereof she hath said,
These are my rewards
that my lovers
have given
me: and I will make
them a forest,
and the beasts
of the field
shall eat
13
And I will visit
upon her the days
of Baalim,
wherein she burned incense
to them, and she decked
herself with her earrings
and her jewels,
and she went
after
her lovers,
and forgat
me, saith
the LORD.
14
Therefore, behold, I will allure
her, and bring
her into the wilderness,
and speak
comfortably
15
And I will give
her her vineyards
from thence, and the valley
of Achor
for a door
of hope:
and she shall sing
there, as in the days
of her youth,
and as in the day
when she came up
out of the land
of Egypt.
16
And it shall be at that day,
saith
the LORD,
that thou shalt call
me Ishi;
and shalt call
me no more Baali.
17
For I will take away
the names
of Baalim
out of her mouth,
and they shall no more be remembered
by their name.
18
And in that day
will I make
a covenant
for them with the beasts
of the field,
and with the fowls
of heaven,
and with the creeping things
of the ground:
and I will break
the bow
and the sword
and the battle
out of the earth,
and will make them to lie down
safely.
19
And I will betroth
thee unto me for ever;
yea, I will betroth
thee unto me in righteousness,
and in judgment,
and in lovingkindness,
and in mercies.
20
I will even betroth
thee unto me in faithfulness:
and thou shalt know
the LORD.
21
And it shall come to pass in that day,
I will hear,
saith
the LORD,
I will hear
the heavens,
and they shall hear
the earth;
22
And the earth
shall hear
the corn,
and the wine,
and the oil;
and they shall hear
Jezreel.
23
And I will sow
her unto me in the earth;
and I will have mercy
upon her that had not obtained mercy;
*
and I will say
to them which were not my people,
Thou art my people;
and they shall say,
Thou art my God.
21
I will hear
the heavens,
and they shall hear
the earth;
22
And the earth
shall hear
the corn,
and the wine,
and the oil;
and they shall hear
Jezreel.
23
And I will sow
her unto me in the earth;
and I will have mercy
upon her that had not obtained mercy;
*
and I will say
to them which were not my people,
Thou art my people;
and they shall say,
Thou art my God.

Joshua 11 - Listen
1
And it came to pass, when Jabin
king
of Hazor
had heard
those things, that he sent
to Jobab
king
of Madon,
and to the king
of Shimron,
and to the king
of Achshaph,
2
And to the kings
that were on the north
of the mountains,
and of the plains
south
of Chinneroth,
and in the valley,
and in the borders
of Dor
on the west,
3
And to the Canaanite
on the east
and on the west,
and to the Amorite,
and the Hittite,
and the Perizzite,
and the Jebusite
in the mountains,
and to the Hivite
under Hermon
in the land
of Mizpeh.
4
And they went out,
they and all their hosts
with them, much
people,
even as the sand
that is upon the sea
shore
in multitude,
with horses
and chariots
very
many.
5
And when all these kings
were met together,
they came
and pitched
together
at the waters
of Merom,
to fight
against Israel.
6
And the LORD
said
unto Joshua,
Be not afraid
because
of them: for to morrow
about this time
will I deliver them up
all slain
before
Israel:
thou shalt hough
their horses,
and burn
their chariots
with fire.
7
So Joshua
came,
and all the people
of war
with him, against them by the waters
of Merom
suddenly;
and they fell upon
8
And the LORD
delivered
them into the hand
of Israel,
who smote
them, and chased
them unto great
Zidon,
and unto Misrephothmaim,
and unto the valley
of Mizpeh
eastward;
and they smote
them, until they left
them none remaining.
9
And Joshua
did
unto them as the LORD
bade
him: he houghed
their horses,
and burnt
their chariots
with fire.
10
And Joshua
at that time
turned back,
and took
Hazor,
and smote
the king
thereof with the sword:
for Hazor
beforetime
was the head
of all those kingdoms.
11
And they smote
all the souls
that were therein with the edge
of the sword,
utterly destroying
them: there was not any left
to breathe:
and he burnt
Hazor
with fire.
12
And all the cities
of those kings,
and all the kings
of them, did Joshua
take,
and smote
them with the edge
of the sword,
and he utterly destroyed
them, as Moses
the servant
of the LORD
commanded.
13
But as for the cities
that stood
still in their strength,
Israel
burned
none of them, save
Hazor
only; that did Joshua
burn.
14
And all the spoil
of these cities,
and the cattle,
the children
of Israel
took for a prey
unto themselves; but every man
they smote
with the edge
of the sword,
until they had destroyed
them, neither left
they any to breathe.
15
As the LORD
commanded
Moses
his servant,
so did Moses
command
Joshua,
and so did
Joshua;
he left
*
nothing
undone
of all that the LORD
commanded
Moses.
16
So Joshua
took
all that land,
the hills,
and all the south country,
and all the land
of Goshen,
and the valley,
and the plain,
and the mountain
of Israel,
and the valley
17
Even from the mount
Halak,
that goeth up
to Seir,
even unto Baalgad
in the valley
of Lebanon
under mount
Hermon:
and all their kings
he took,
and smote
them, and slew
18
Joshua
made
war
a long
time
with all those kings.
19
There was not a city
that made peace
with the children
of Israel,
save the Hivites
the inhabitants
of Gibeon:
all other they took
in battle.
20
For it was of the LORD
to harden
their hearts,
that they should come against
Israel
in battle,
that he might destroy them utterly,
and that they might have no favour,
but that he might destroy
them, as the LORD
commanded
Moses.
21
And at that time
came
Joshua,
and cut off
the Anakims
from the mountains,
from Hebron,
from Debir,
from Anab,
and from all the mountains
of Judah,
and from all the mountains
of Israel:
Joshua
destroyed them utterly
with their cities.
22
There was none of the Anakims
left
in the land
of the children
of Israel:
only in Gaza,
in Gath,
and in Ashdod,
there remained.
23
So Joshua
took
the whole land,
according to all that the LORD
said
unto Moses;
and Joshua
gave
it for an inheritance
unto Israel
according to their divisions
by their tribes.
And the land
rested
from war.
