Spoke 11: Comparing 2Timothy with 1Kings

The following is a comparison of 2Timothy and 1Kings. The previous posting was comparing Micah with 1Kings. But the 3 books, 1Kings/Micah/2Timothy are all related.

Some of the known highlights are the turning away from the LORD;

both the apostle Paul and prophet Micaiah of 1Kings 22 have been prisoners and been afflicted;

shewing thyself a man/approved unto God and being charged as David charged Solomon to carry out certain tasks as he named names of those who turned away from him and Paul charged Timothy as well;

it mentions the foundation of the house of God as well as the significance of the vessels of honour with gold and silver and dishonour;

Ahab coveted a vineyard and Paul named covetousness as one of the attributes of turning away from God;

despising those that are good as Micaiah was despised by king Ahab since he always prophesied against him;

Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses (before Pharaoh) as mentioned in 2Timothy and the false prophet Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah withstood Micaiah (before king Ahab);

and turning their ears unto fables and away from the truth:

Spoke 11: Comparing Micah with 1Kings

One of the main themes in common is that Micah begins where Micaiah leaves by saying Hear O Israel. The last prophet in 1Kings was Micaiah the son of Imlah. Another main theme is naming names, whether they are good men or evil, and what they have done. David named names before Solomon and Paul named names as he wrote to Timothy.
