Isaiah 17

Isaiah 17 (Isaiah 171) With The 17th Book Esther 1 (Bible 171)
Isaiah 17 - Listen

1 The burden H4853 of Damascus. H1834 Behold, Damascus H1834 is taken away H5493 from being a city, H5892 and it shall be a ruinous H4654 heap. H4596

2
The cities H5892 of Aroer H6177 are forsaken: H5800 they shall be for flocks, H5739 which shall lie down, H7257 and none shall make them afraid. H2729

3
The fortress H4013 also shall cease H7673 from Ephraim, H669 and the kingdom H4467 from Damascus, H1834 and the remnant H7605 of Syria: H758 they shall be as the glory H3519 of the children H1121 of Israel, H3478 saith H5002 the LORD H3068 of hosts. H6635

4 And in that day H3117 it shall come to pass, that the glory H3519 of Jacob H3290 shall be made thin, H1809 and the fatness H4924 of his flesh H1320 shall wax lean. H7329

4   וְהָיָה בַּיֹּום הַהוּא יִדַּל כְּבֹוד יַעֲקֹב וּמִשְׁמַן בְּשָׂרֹו יֵרָזֶֽה׃

5 And it shall be as when the harvestman H7105 gathereth H622 the corn, H7054 and reapeth H7114 the ears H7641 with his arm; H2220 and it shall be as he that gathereth H3950 ears H7641 in the valley H6010 of Rephaim. H7497

6 Yet gleaning grapes H5955 shall be left H7604 in it, as the shaking H5363 of an olive tree, H2132 two H8147 or three H7969 berries H1620 in the top H7218 of the uppermost bough, H534 four H702 or five H2568 in the outmost fruitful H6509 branches H5585 thereof, saith H5002 the LORD H3068 God H430 of Israel. H3478

7 At that day H3117 shall a man H120 look H8159 to his Maker, H6213 and his eyes H5869 shall have respect H7200 to the Holy H6918 One of Israel. H3478

8 And he shall not look H8159 to the altars, H4196 the work H4639 of his hands, H3027 neither shall respect H7200 that which his fingers H676 have made, H6213 either the groves, H842 or the images. H2553

9 In that day H3117 shall his strong H4581 cities H5892 be as a forsaken H5800 bough, H2793 and an uppermost branch, H534 which they left H5800 because H6440 of the children H1121 of Israel: H3478 and there shall be desolation. H8077

10 Because thou hast forgotten H7911 the God H430 of thy salvation, H3468 and hast not been mindful H2142 of the rock H6697 of thy strength, H4581 therefore shalt thou plant H5193 pleasant H5282 plants, H5194 and shalt set H2232 it with strange H2114 slips: H2156

11 In the day H3117 shalt thou make thy plant H5194 to grow, H7735 and in the morning H1242 shalt thou make thy seed H2233 to flourish: H6524 but the harvest H7105 shall be a heap H5067 in the day H3117 of grief H2470 and of desperate H605 sorrow. H3511

12 Woe H1945 to the multitude H1995 of many H7227 people, H5971 which make a noise H1993 like the noise H1993 of the seas; H3220 and to the rushing H7588 of nations, H3816 that make a rushing like the rushing H7582 of mighty H3524 waters! H4325

13 The nations H3816 shall rush H7582 like the rushing H7588 of many H7227 waters: H4325 but God shall rebuke H1605 them, and they shall flee H5127 far off, H4801 and shall be chased H7291 as the chaff H4671 of the mountains H2022 before H6440 the wind, H7307 and like a rolling thing H1534 before H6440 the whirlwind. H5492

14 And behold at eveningtide H6256 H6153 trouble; H1091 and before the morning H1242 he is not. This is the portion H2506 of them that spoil H8154 us, and the lot H1486 of them that rob H962 us.
Esther 1 - Listen

1
[Esther 1:1 KJV]
Now it came to pass in the days[H3117] of Ahasuerus, (this [is] Ahasuerus which reigned,[H4427] from India even unto Ethiopia, [over] an hundred and seven and twenty provinces:)

[Esther 1:2 KJV]
[That] in those days,[H3117] when the king Ahasuerus sat on the throne of his kingdom, which [was] in Shushan the palace,

[Esther 1:3 KJV]
In the third[H7969] year of his reign,[H4427] he made[H6213] a feast unto all his princes and his servants; the power of Persia and Media, the nobles and princes of the provinces, [being] before him:

[Esther 1:4 KJV]
When he shewed[H7200] the riches of his glorious[H3519] kingdom and the honour of his excellent majesty many[H7227] days,[H3117] [even] an hundred and fourscore days.[H3117]

[Esther 1:5 KJV]
And when these days[H3117] were expired, the king made[H6213] a feast unto all the people[H5971] that were present in Shushan the palace, both unto great and small, seven days,[H3117] in the court of the garden of the king's palace;

[Esther 1:7 KJV]
And they gave [them] drink in vessels of gold, (the vessels being diverse[H8138] one from another,) and royal wine in abundance,[H7227] according to the state[H3027] of the king.

[Esther 1:8 KJV]
And the drinking [was] according to the law; none did compel: for so the king had appointed to all the officers[H7227] of his house, that they should do[H6213] according to every man's pleasure.

[Esther 1:18 KJV]
[Likewise] shall the ladies of Persia and Media say[H559] this day unto all the king's princes, which have heard of the deed of the queen. Thus [shall there arise] too much contempt and wrath.

[Esther 1:9 KJV]
Also Vashti the queen made[H6213] a feast for the women [in] the royal house which [belonged] to king Ahasuerus.

[Esther 1:10 KJV]
On the seventh day,[H3117] when the heart of the king was merry with wine, he commanded[H559] Mehuman, Biztha, Harbona, Bigtha, and Abagtha, Zethar, and Carcas, the seven chamberlains that served in the presence of Ahasuerus the king,

[Esther 1:11 KJV]
To bring Vashti the queen before the king with the crown royal, to shew[H7200] the people[H5971] and the princes her beauty: for she [was] fair to look on.

[Esther 1:12 KJV]
But the queen Vashti refused to come at the king's commandment by[H3027] [his] chamberlains: therefore was the king very wroth, and his anger burned in him.

[Esther 1:13 KJV]
Then the king said[H559] to the wise men, which knew the times,[H6256] (for so [was] the king's manner toward all that knew law and judgment:

[Esther 1:14 KJV]
And the next unto him [was] Carshena, Shethar, Admatha, Tarshish, Meres, Marsena, [and] Memucan, the seven princes of Persia and Media, which saw[H7200] the king's face, [and] which sat the first in the kingdom;)

[Esther 1:15 KJV]
What shall we do[H6213] unto the queen Vashti according to law, because she hath not performed[H6213] the commandment of the king Ahasuerus by[H3027] the chamberlains?

[Esther 1:16 KJV]
And Memucan answered[H559] before the king and the princes, Vashti the queen hath not done wrong[H5753] to the king only, but also to all the princes, and to all the people[H5971] that [are] in all the provinces of the king Ahasuerus.

[Esther 1:17 KJV]
For [this] deed of the queen shall come abroad unto all women, so that they shall despise their husbands in their eyes,[H5869] when it shall be reported,[H559] The king Ahasuerus commanded[H559] Vashti the queen to be brought in before him, but she came not.

[Esther 1:18 KJV]
[Likewise] shall the ladies of Persia and Media say this day[H3117] unto all the king's princes, which have heard of the deed of the queen. Thus [shall there arise] too much contempt and wrath.

[Esther 1:20 KJV]
And when the king's decree which he shall make[H6213] shall be published throughout all his empire, (for it is great,)[H7227] all the wives shall give to their husbands honour, both to great and small.

[Esther 1:21 KJV]
And the saying pleased[H5869] the king and the princes; and the king did[H6213] according to the word of Memucan:

[Esther 1:22 KJV]
For he sent letters into all the king's provinces, into every province according to the writing thereof, and to every people[H5971] after their language, that every man should bear rule in his own house, and that [it] should be published according to the language of every people .[H5971]

Esther 2 - Listen

[Esther 2:1 KJV]
After these things, when the wrath of king Ahasuerus was appeased, he remembered[H2142] Vashti, and what she had done,[H6213] and what was decreed against her.

[Esther 2:2 KJV]
Then said[H559] the king's servants that ministered unto him, Let there be fair young virgins sought for the king:

[Esther 2:3 KJV]
And let the king appoint officers in all the provinces of his kingdom, that they may gather together all the fair young virgins unto Shushan the palace, to the house of the women, unto the custody[H3027] of Hege the king's chamberlain, keeper of the women; and let their things for purification be given [them]:

[Esther 2:4 KJV]
And let the maiden which pleaseth[H5869] the king be queen[H4427] instead of Vashti. And the thing pleased[H5869] the king; and he did so.[H6213]

[Esther 2:5 KJV]
[Now] in Shushan the palace there was a certain Jew, whose name [was] Mordecai, the son[H1121] of Jair, the son[H1121] of Shimei, the son[H1121] of Kish, a Benjamite;

[Esther 2:8 KJV]
So it came to pass, when the king's commandment and his decree was heard, and when many[H7227] maidens were gathered together unto Shushan the palace, to the custody[H3027] of Hegai, that Esther was brought also unto the king's house, to the custody[H3027] of Hegai, keeper of the women.

[Esther 2:9 KJV]
And the maiden pleased[H5869] him, and she obtained kindness of him; and he speedily[H926] gave her her things for purification, with such things as belonged to her, and seven maidens, [which were] meet[H7200] to be given her, out of the king's house: and he preferred[H8138] her and her maids unto the best [place] of the house of the women.

[Esther 2:10 KJV]
Esther had not shewed her people[H5971] nor her kindred: for Mordecai had charged her that she should not shew [it].

[Esther 2:11 KJV]
And Mordecai walked every day[H3117] before the court of the women's house, to know how Esther did, and what should become[H6213] of her.

[Esther 2:12 KJV]
Now when every maid's turn was come to go in to king Ahasuerus, after that she had been twelve[H8147] months, according to the manner of the women, (for so were the days[H3117] of their purifications accomplished, [to wit], six months with oil of myrrh, and six months with sweet odours, and with [other] things for the purifying of the women;)

[Esther 2:13 KJV]
Then thus came [every] maiden unto the king; whatsoever she desired[H559] was given her to go with her out of the house of the women unto the king's house.

[Esther 2:14 KJV]
In the evening[H6153] she went, and on the morrow[H1242] she returned into the second[H8145] house of the women, to the custody[H3027] of Shaashgaz, the king's chamberlain, which kept the concubines: she came in unto the king no more, except the king delighted in her, and that she were called by name.

[Esther 2:15 KJV]
Now when the turn of Esther, the daughter of Abihail the uncle of Mordecai, who had taken her for his daughter, was come to go in unto the king, she required nothing but what Hegai the king's chamberlain, the keeper of the women, appointed.[H559] And Esther obtained favour in the sight[H5869] of all them that looked[H7200] upon her.

[Esther 2:17 KJV]
And the king loved Esther above all the women, and she obtained grace and favour in his sight more than all the virgins; so that he set the royal crown upon her head,[H7218] and made her queen[H4427] instead of Vashti.

[Esther 2:18 KJV]
Then the king made[H6213] a great feast unto all his princes and his servants, [even] Esther's feast; and he made[H6213] a release to the provinces, and gave gifts, according to the state[H3027] of the king.

[Esther 2:19 KJV]
And when the virgins were gathered together the second time,[H8145] then Mordecai sat in the king's gate.

[Esther 2:20 KJV]
Esther had not [yet] shewed her kindred nor her people;[H5971] as Mordecai had charged her: for Esther did[H6213] the commandment of Mordecai, like as when she was brought up with him.

[Esther 2:21 KJV]
In those days,[H3117] while Mordecai sat in the king's gate, two[H8147] of the king's chamberlains, Bigthan and Teresh, of those which kept the door, were wroth, and sought to lay hand[H3027] on the king Ahasuerus.

[Esther 2:22 KJV]
And the thing was known to Mordecai, who told [it] unto Esther the queen; and Esther certified[H559] the king [thereof] in Mordecai's name.

[Esther 2:23 KJV]
And when inquisition was made of the matter, it was found out; therefore they were both[H8147] hanged on a tree: and it was written in the book of the chronicles[H3117] before the king.

[Esther 3:1 KJV]
After these things did king Ahasuerus promote Haman the son[H1121] of Hammedatha the Agagite, and advanced him, and set his seat above all the princes that [were] with him.

[Esther 3:3 KJV]
Then the king's servants, which [were] in the king's gate, said[H559] unto Mordecai, Why transgressest thou the king's commandment?

[Esther 3:4 KJV]
Now it came to pass, when they spake[H559] daily[H3117][H3117] unto him, and he hearkened not unto them, that they told Haman, to see[H7200] whether Mordecai's matters would stand: for he had told them that he [was] a Jew.

[Esther 3:5 KJV]
And when Haman saw[H7200] that Mordecai bowed not, nor did him reverence, then was Haman full of wrath.

[Esther 3:6 KJV]
And he thought[H5869] scorn to lay hands[H3027] on Mordecai alone; for they had shewed him the people[H5971] of Mordecai: wherefore Haman sought to destroy all the Jews that [were] throughout the whole kingdom of Ahasuerus, [even] the people[H5971] of Mordecai.

[Esther 3:7 KJV]
In the first month, that [is], the month Nisan, in the twelfth[H8147] year of king Ahasuerus, they cast[H5307] Pur, that [is], the lot,[H1486] before Haman from day[H3117] to day,[H3117] and from month to month, [to] the twelfth[H8147] [month], that [is], the month Adar.

[Esther 3:8 KJV]
And Haman said[H559] unto king Ahasuerus, There is a certain people[H5971] scattered abroad and dispersed among the people[H5971] in all the provinces of thy kingdom; and their laws [are] diverse[H8138] from all people ;[H5971] neither keep[H6213] they the king's laws: therefore it [is] not for the king's profit to suffer them.

[Esther 3:9 KJV]
If it please the king, let it be written that they may be destroyed: and I will pay ten thousand talents of silver to the hands[H3027] of those that have the charge[H6213] of the business, to bring [it] into the king's treasuries.

[Esther 3:10 KJV]
And the king took[H5493] his ring from his hand,[H3027] and gave it unto Haman the son[H1121] of Hammedatha the Agagite, the Jews' enemy.

[Esther 3:11 KJV]
And the king said[H559] unto Haman, The silver [is] given to thee, the people[H5971] also, to do[H6213] with them as it seemeth[H5869] good to thee.

[Esther 3:12 KJV]
Then were the king's scribes called on the thirteenth[H7969] day[H3117] of the first month, and there was written according to all that Haman had commanded unto the king's lieutenants, and to the governors that [were] over every province, and to the rulers of every people[H5971] of every province according to the writing thereof, and [to] every people[H5971] after their language; in the name of king Ahasuerus was it written, and sealed with the king's ring.

[Esther 3:13 KJV]
And the letters were sent by[H3027] posts into all the king's provinces, to destroy, to kill, and to cause to perish, all Jews, both young and old, little children and women, in one day,[H3117] [even] upon the thirteenth[H7969] [day] of the twelfth[H8147] month, which is the month Adar, and [to take] the spoil of them for a prey.[H962]

[Esther 3:14 KJV]
The copy of the writing for a commandment to be given in every province was published unto all people,[H5971] that they should be ready against that day.[H3117]

[Esther 3:15 KJV]
The posts went out, being hastened by the king's commandment, and the decree was given in Shushan the palace. And the king and Haman sat down to drink; but the city[H5892] Shushan was perplexed.

1 The burden H4853 of Damascus. H1834 Behold, Damascus H1834 is taken away H5493 from being a city, H5892 and it shall be a ruinous H4654 heap. H4596
2 The cities H5892 of Aroer H6177 are forsaken: H5800 they shall be for flocks, H5739 which shall lie down, H7257 and none shall make them afraid. H2729
3 The fortress H4013 also shall cease H7673 from Ephraim, H669 and the kingdom H4467 from Damascus, H1834 and the remnant H7605 of Syria: H758 they shall be as the glory H3519 of the children H1121 of Israel, H3478 saith H5002 the LORD H3068 of hosts. H6635

4 And in that day H3117 it shall come to pass, that the glory H3519 of Jacob H3290 shall be made thin, H1809 and the fatness H4924 of his flesh H1320 shall wax lean. H7329

Esther 4 - Listen

1

[Esther 4:1 KJV]
When Mordecai perceived all that was done,[H6213] Mordecai rent his clothes, and put on sackcloth with ashes, and went out into the midst of the city,[H5892] and cried with a loud and a bitter cry;

[Esther 4:3 KJV]
And in every province, whithersoever the king's commandment and his decree came, [there was] great mourning among the Jews, and fasting, and weeping, and wailing; and many[H7227] lay in sackcloth and ashes.

[Esther 4:4 KJV]
So Esther's maids and her chamberlains came and told [it] her. Then was the queen exceedingly grieved; and she sent raiment to clothe Mordecai, and to take away[H5493] his sackcloth from him: but he received [it] not.

[Esther 4:6 KJV]
So Hatach went forth to Mordecai unto the street of the city,[H5892] which [was] before the king's gate.

[Esther 4:7 KJV]
And Mordecai told him of all that had happened unto him, and of the sum of the money that Haman had promised[H559] to pay to the king's treasuries for the Jews, to destroy them.

[Esther 4:8 KJV]
Also he gave him the copy of the writing of the decree that was given at Shushan to destroy them, to shew[H7200] [it] unto Esther, and to declare [it] unto her, and to charge her that she should go in unto the king, to make supplication unto him, and to make request before him for her people.[H5971]

[Esther 4:10 KJV]
Again Esther spake[H559] unto Hatach, and gave him commandment unto Mordecai;

[Esther 4:11 KJV]
All the king's servants, and the people[H5971] of the king's provinces, do know, that whosoever, whether man or woman, shall come unto the king into the inner court, who is not called, [there is] one law of his to put [him] to death, except such to whom the king shall hold out the golden sceptre, that he may live: but I have not been called to come in unto the king these thirty days.[H3117]

[Esther 4:13 KJV]
Then Mordecai commanded[H559] to answer Esther, Think not with thyself that thou shalt escape in the king's house, more than all the Jews.

[Esther 4:14 KJV]
For if thou altogether[H2790] holdest thy peace[H2790] at this time,[H6256] [then] shall there enlargement and deliverance arise to the Jews from another place; but thou and thy father's house shall be destroyed: and who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for [such] a time[H6256] as this?

[Esther 4:15 KJV]
Then Esther bade[H559] [them] return Mordecai [this answer],

[Esther 4:16 KJV]
Go, gather together all the Jews that are present in Shushan, and fast ye for me, and neither eat nor drink three[H7969] days,[H3117] night or day:[H3117] I also and my maidens will fast likewise; and so will I go in unto the king, which [is] not according to the law: and if I perish, I perish.

[Esther 4:17 KJV]
So Mordecai went his way, and did[H6213] according to all that Esther had commanded him.

Esther 5 - Listen

[Esther 5:1 KJV]
Now it came to pass on the third day,[H3117] that Esther put on [her] royal [apparel], and stood in the inner court of the king's house, over against the king's house: and the king sat upon his royal throne in the royal house, over against the gate of the house.

[Esther 5:2 KJV]
And it was so, when the king saw[H7200] Esther the queen standing in the court, [that] she obtained favour in his sight:[H5869] and the king held out to Esther the golden sceptre that [was] in his hand.[H3027] So Esther drew near, and touched the top[H7218] of the sceptre.

[Esther 5:3 KJV]
Then said[H559] the king unto her, What wilt thou, queen Esther? and what [is] thy request? it shall be even given thee to the half of the kingdom.

[Esther 5:4 KJV]
And Esther answered,[H559] If [it seem] good unto the king, let the king and Haman come this day[H3117] unto the banquet that I have prepared[H6213] for him.

[Esther 5:5 KJV]
Then the king said,[H559] Cause Haman to make haste, that he may do[H6213] as Esther hath said. So the king and Haman came to the banquet that Esther had prepared.[H6213]

[Esther 5:6 KJV]
And the king said[H559] unto Esther at the banquet of wine, What [is] thy petition? and it shall be granted thee: and what [is] thy request? even to the half of the kingdom it shall be performed.[H6213]

[Esther 5:7 KJV]
Then answered Esther, and said,[H559] My petition and my request [is];

[Esther 5:8 KJV]
If I have found favour in the sight[H5869] of the king, and if it please the king to grant my petition, and to perform[H6213] my request, let the king and Haman come to the banquet that I shall prepare[H6213] for them, and I will do[H6213] to morrow as the king hath said.

[Esther 5:9 KJV]
Then went Haman forth that day[H3117] joyful and with a glad heart: but when Haman saw[H7200] Mordecai in the king's gate, that he stood not up,[H6965] nor moved for him, he was full of indignation against Mordecai.

[Esther 5:11 KJV]
And Haman told them of the glory[H3519] of his riches, and the multitude of his children,[H1121] and all [the things] wherein the king had promoted him, and how he had advanced him above the princes and servants of the king.

[Esther 5:12 KJV]
Haman said[H559] moreover, Yea, Esther the queen did let no man come in with the king unto the banquet that she had prepared[H6213] but myself; and to morrow am I invited unto her also with the king.

[Esther 5:13 KJV]
Yet all this availeth me nothing, so long as[H6256] I see[H7200] Mordecai the Jew sitting at the king's gate.

[Esther 5:14 KJV]
Then said[H559] Zeresh his wife and all his friends unto him, Let a gallows be made[H6213] of fifty cubits high, and to morrow[H1242] speak[H559] thou unto the king that Mordecai may be hanged thereon: then go thou in merrily with the king unto the banquet. And the thing pleased Haman; and he caused[H6213] the gallows to be made.[H6213]

Esther 6 - Listen

1

[Esther 6:1 KJV]
On that night could not the king sleep, and he commanded[H559] to bring the book of records of the chronicles;[H3117] and they were read before the king.

[Esther 6:2 KJV]
And it was found written, that Mordecai had told of Bigthana and Teresh, two[H8147] of the king's chamberlains, the keepers of the door, who sought to lay hand[H3027] on the king Ahasuerus.

[Esther 6:3 KJV]
And the king said,[H559] What honour and dignity hath been done[H6213] to Mordecai for this? Then said[H559] the king's servants that ministered unto him, There is nothing done[H6213] for him.

[Esther 6:4 KJV]
And the king said,[H559] Who [is] in the court? Now Haman was come into the outward court of the king's house, to speak[H559] unto the king to hang Mordecai on the gallows that he had prepared for him.

[Esther 6:5 KJV]
And the king's servants said[H559] unto him, Behold, Haman standeth in the court. And the king said,[H559] Let him come in.

[Esther 6:6 KJV]
So Haman came in. And the king said[H559] unto him, What shall be done[H6213] unto the man whom the king delighteth to honour? Now Haman thought[H559] in his heart, To whom would the king delight to do[H6213] honour more than to myself?

[Esther 6:7 KJV]
And Haman answered[H559] the king, For the man whom the king delighteth to honour,

[Esther 6:8 KJV]
Let the royal apparel be brought which the king [useth] to wear, and the horse that the king rideth upon, and the crown royal which is set upon his head:[H7218]

[Esther 6:9 KJV]
And let this apparel and horse be delivered to the hand[H3027] of one of the king's most noble princes, that they may array the man [withal] whom the king delighteth to honour, and bring him on horseback through the street of the city,[H5892] and proclaim before him, Thus shall it be done[H6213] to the man whom the king delighteth to honour.

[Esther 6:10 KJV]
Then the king said[H559] to Haman, Make haste, [and] take the apparel and the horse, as thou hast said, and do[H6213] even so to Mordecai the Jew, that sitteth at the king's gate: let nothing fail[H5307] of all that thou hast spoken.

[Esther 6:11 KJV]
Then took Haman the apparel and the horse, and arrayed Mordecai, and brought him on horseback through the street of the city,[H5892] and proclaimed before him, Thus shall it be done[H6213] unto the man whom the king delighteth to honour.

[Esther 6:12 KJV]
And Mordecai came again to the king's gate. But Haman hasted to his house mourning, and having his head[H7218] covered.

[Esther 6:13 KJV]
And Haman told Zeresh his wife and all his friends every [thing] that had befallen him. Then said his wise men and Zeresh his wife unto him, If Mordecai [be] of the seed of the Jews, before whom thou hast begun to fall,[H5307] thou shalt not prevail against him, but shalt surely[H5307] fall[H5307] before him.

[Esther 6:13 KJV]
And Haman told Zeresh his wife and all his friends every [thing] that had befallen him. Then said[H559] his wise men and Zeresh his wife unto him, If Mordecai [be] of the seed[H2233] of the Jews, before whom thou hast begun to fall,[H5307] thou shalt not prevail against him, but shalt surely[H5307] fall[H5307] before him.

[Esther 6:14 KJV]
And while they [were] yet talking with him, came the king's chamberlains, and hasted[H926] to bring Haman unto the banquet that Esther had prepared.[H6213]

[Esther 7:2 KJV]
And the king said[H559] again unto Esther on the second[H8145] day[H3117] at the banquet of wine, What [is] thy petition, queen Esther? and it shall be granted thee: and what [is] thy request? and it shall be performed,[H6213] [even] to the half of the kingdom.

[Esther 7:3 KJV]
Then Esther the queen answered and said,[H559] If I have found favour in thy sight,[H5869] O king, and if it please the king, let my life be given me at my petition, and my people[H5971] at my request:

[Esther 7:4 KJV]
For we are sold, I and my people,[H5971] to be destroyed, to be slain, and to perish. But if we had been sold for bondmen and bondwomen, I had held my tongue,[H2790] although the enemy could not countervail the king's damage.

[Esther 7:5 KJV]
Then the king Ahasuerus answered[H559] and said[H559] unto Esther the queen, Who is he, and where is he, that durst presume in his heart to do[H6213] so?

[Esther 7:6 KJV]
And Esther said,[H559] The adversary and enemy [is] this wicked Haman. Then Haman was afraid before the king and the queen.

[Esther 7:7 KJV]
And the king arising[H6965] from the banquet of wine in his wrath [went] into the palace garden: and Haman stood up to make request for his life to Esther the queen; for he saw[H7200] that there was evil determined against him by the king.

[Esther 7:8 KJV]
Then the king returned out of the palace garden into the place of the banquet of wine; and Haman was fallen[H5307] upon the bed whereon Esther [was]. Then said[H559] the king, Will he force the queen also before me in the house? As the word went out of the king's mouth, they covered Haman's face.

[Esther 7:9 KJV]
And Harbonah, one of the chamberlains, said[H559] before the king, Behold also, the gallows fifty cubits high, which Haman had made[H6213] for Mordecai, who had spoken good for the king, standeth in the house of Haman. Then the king said,[H559] Hang him thereon.

Esther 8 - Listen

[Esther 8:1 KJV]
On that day[H3117] did the king Ahasuerus give the house of Haman the Jews' enemy unto Esther the queen. And Mordecai came before the king; for Esther had told what he [was] unto her.

[Esther 8:2 KJV]
And the king took off[H5493] his ring, which he had taken from Haman, and gave it unto Mordecai. And Esther set Mordecai over the house of Haman.

[Esther 8:3 KJV]
And Esther spake yet again before the king, and fell down[H5307] at his feet, and besought him with tears to put away the mischief of Haman the Agagite, and his device that he had devised against the Jews.

[Esther 8:4 KJV]
Then the king held out the golden sceptre toward Esther. So Esther arose,[H6965] and stood before the king,

[Esther 8:5 KJV]
And said,[H559] If it please the king, and if I have found favour in his sight, and the thing [seem] right before the king, and I [be] pleasing in his eyes,[H5869] let it be written to reverse the letters devised by Haman the son[H1121] of Hammedatha the Agagite, which he wrote to destroy the Jews which [are] in all the king's provinces:

[Esther 8:6 KJV]
For how can I endure to see[H7200] the evil that shall come unto my people?[H5971] or how can I endure to see[H7200] the destruction of my kindred?

[Esther 8:7 KJV]
Then the king Ahasuerus said[H559] unto Esther the queen and to Mordecai the Jew, Behold, I have given Esther the house of Haman, and him they have hanged upon the gallows, because he laid his hand[H3027] upon the Jews.

[Esther 8:8 KJV]
Write ye also for the Jews, as it liketh you,[H5869] in the king's name, and seal [it] with the king's ring: for the writing which is written in the king's name, and sealed with the king's ring, may no man reverse.

[Esther 8:9 KJV]
Then were the king's scribes called at that time[H6256] in the third month, that [is], the month Sivan, on the three[H7969] and twentieth [day] thereof; and it was written according to all that Mordecai commanded unto the Jews, and to the lieutenants, and the deputies and rulers of the provinces which [are] from India unto Ethiopia, an hundred twenty and seven provinces, unto every province according to the writing thereof, and unto every people[H5971] after their language, and to the Jews according to their writing, and according to their language.

[Esther 8:10 KJV]
And he wrote in the king Ahasuerus' name, and sealed [it] with the king's ring, and sent letters by[H3027] posts on horseback, [and] riders on mules, camels, [and] young[H1121] dromedaries:

[Esther 8:11 KJV]
Wherein the king granted the Jews which [were] in every city[H5892] to gather themselves together, and to stand for their life, to destroy, to slay, and to cause to perish, all the power of the people[H5971] and province that would assault[H6696] them, [both] little ones and women, and [to take] the spoil of them for a prey,[H962]

[Esther 8:12 KJV]
Upon one day[H3117] in all the provinces of king Ahasuerus, [namely], upon the thirteenth[H7969] [day] of the twelfth[H8147] month, which [is] the month Adar.

[Esther 8:13 KJV]
The copy of the writing for a commandment to be given in every province [was] published unto all people,[H5971] and that the Jews should be ready against that day[H3117] to avenge themselves on their enemies.

[Esther 8:14 KJV]
[So] the posts that rode upon mules [and] camels went out, being hastened[H926] and pressed on by the king's commandment. And the decree was given at Shushan the palace.

[Esther 8:15 KJV]
And Mordecai went out from the presence of the king in royal apparel of blue and white, and with a great crown of gold, and with a garment of fine linen and purple: and the city[H5892] of Shushan rejoiced and was glad.

[Esther 8:17 KJV]
And in every province, and in every city,[H5892] whithersoever the king's commandment and his decree came, the Jews had joy and gladness, a feast and a good day.[H3117] And many[H7227] of the people[H5971] of the land became Jews; for the fear of the Jews fell[H5307] upon them.

Esther 9 - Listen

1

[Esther 9:1 KJV]
Now in the twelfth[H8147] month, that [is], the month Adar, on the thirteenth[H7969] day[H3117] of the same, when the king's commandment and his decree drew near to be put in execution,[H6213] in the day[H3117] that the enemies of the Jews hoped to have power over them, (though it was turned to the contrary, that the Jews had rule over them that hated them;)

[Esther 9:2 KJV]
The Jews gathered themselves together in their cities[H5892] throughout all the provinces of the king Ahasuerus, to lay hand[H3027] on such as sought their hurt: and no man could withstand them; for the fear of them fell[H5307] upon all people.[H5971]

[Esther 9:3 KJV]
And all the rulers of the provinces, and the lieutenants, and the deputies, and officers[H6213] of the king, helped the Jews; because the fear of Mordecai fell[H5307] upon them.

[Esther 9:5 KJV]
Thus the Jews smote all their enemies with the stroke of the sword, and slaughter, and destruction, and did[H6213] what they would unto those that hated them.

[Esther 9:6 KJV]
And in Shushan the palace the Jews slew and destroyed five[H2568] hundred men.

[Esther 9:10 KJV]
The ten sons[H1121] of Haman the son[H1121] of Hammedatha, the enemy of the Jews, slew they; but on the spoil laid they not their hand.[H3027]

[Esther 9:11 KJV]
On that day[H3117] the number of those that were slain in Shushan the palace was brought before the king.

[Esther 9:12 KJV]
And the king said[H559] unto Esther the queen, The Jews have slain and destroyed five[H2568] hundred men in Shushan the palace, and the ten sons[H1121] of Haman; what have they done[H6213] in the rest[H7605] of the king's provinces? now what [is] thy petition? and it shall be granted thee: or what [is] thy request further? and it shall be done.[H6213]

[Esther 9:13 KJV]
Then said[H559] Esther, If it please the king, let it be granted to the Jews which [are] in Shushan to do[H6213] to morrow also according unto this day's[H3117] decree, and let Haman's ten sons[H1121] be hanged upon the gallows.

[Esther 9:14 KJV]
And the king commanded[H559] it so to be done:[H6213] and the decree was given at Shushan; and they hanged Haman's ten sons.[H1121]

[Esther 9:15 KJV]
For the Jews that [were] in Shushan gathered themselves together on the fourteenth[H702] day[H3117] also of the month Adar, and slew three[H7969] hundred men at Shushan; but on the prey they laid not their hand.[H3027]

[Esther 9:16 KJV]
But the other[H7605] Jews that [were] in the king's provinces gathered themselves together, and stood for their lives, and had rest from their enemies, and slew of their foes seventy and five[H2568] thousand, but they laid not their hands[H3027] on the prey,

[Esther 9:17 KJV]
On the thirteenth[H7969] day[H3117] of the month Adar; and on the fourteenth[H702] day of the same rested they, and made[H6213] it a day[H3117] of feasting and gladness.

[Esther 9:18 KJV]
But the Jews that [were] at Shushan assembled together on the thirteenth[H7969] [day] thereof, and on the fourteenth[H702] thereof; and on the fifteenth[H2568] [day] of the same they rested, and made[H6213] it a day[H3117] of feasting and gladness.

[Esther 9:19 KJV]
Therefore the Jews of the villages, that dwelt in the unwalled towns,[H5892] made[H6213] the fourteenth[H702] day[H3117] of the month Adar [a day of] gladness and feasting, and a good day,[H3117] and of sending portions one to another.

[Esther 9:21 KJV]
To stablish[H6965] [this] among them, that they should keep[H6213] the fourteenth[H702] day[H3117] of the month Adar, and the fifteenth[H2568] day[H3117] of the same, yearly,

[Esther 9:22 KJV]
As the days[H3117] wherein the Jews rested from their enemies, and the month which was turned unto them from sorrow to joy, and from mourning into a good day:[H3117] that they should make[H6213] them days[H3117] of feasting and joy, and of sending portions one to another, and gifts to the poor.

[Esther 9:23 KJV]
And the Jews undertook to do[H6213] as they had begun, and as Mordecai had written unto them;

[Esther 9:24 KJV]
Because Haman the son[H1121] of Hammedatha, the Agagite, the enemy of all the Jews, had devised against the Jews to destroy them, and had cast[H5307] Pur, that [is], the lot,[H1486] to consume[H2000] them, and to destroy them;

[Esther 9:25 KJV]
But when [Esther] came before the king, he commanded[H559] by letters that his wicked device, which he devised against the Jews, should return upon his own head,[H7218] and that he and his sons[H1121] should be hanged on the gallows.

[Esther 9:26 KJV]
Wherefore they called these days[H3117] Purim after the name of Pur. Therefore for all the words of this letter, and [of that] which they had seen[H7200] concerning this matter, and which had come unto them,

[Esther 9:27 KJV]
The Jews ordained,[H6965] and took upon them, and upon their seed,[H2233] and upon all such as joined themselves unto them, so as it should not fail, that they would keep[H6213] these two[H8147] days[H3117] according to their writing, and according to their [appointed] time every year;

[Esther 9:28 KJV]
And [that] these days[H3117] [should be] remembered[H2142] and kept[H6213] throughout every generation, every family, every province, and every city;[H5892] and [that] these days[H3117] of Purim should not fail from among the Jews, nor the memorial of them perish from their seed.[H2233]

[Esther 9:29 KJV]
Then Esther the queen, the daughter of Abihail, and Mordecai the Jew, wrote with all authority, to confirm[H6965] this second[H8145] letter of Purim.

[Esther 9:31 KJV]
To confirm[H6965] these days[H3117] of Purim in their times [appointed], according as Mordecai the Jew and Esther the queen had enjoined[H6965] them, and as they had decreed[H6965] for themselves and for their seed,[H2233] the matters of the fastings and their cry.

[Esther 9:32 KJV]
And the decree of Esther confirmed[H6965] these matters of Purim; and it was written in the book.

[Esther 10:3 KJV]

[Ezekiel 7:16 KJV]

nation, People and Many

Isaiah 17 - Listen
12 Woe to the multitude of many people, which make a noise like the noise of the seas; and to the rushing of nations, that make a rushing like the rushing of mighty waters!
13 The nations shall rush like the rushing of many waters: but God shall rebuke them, and they shall flee far off, and shall be chased as the chaff of the mountains before the wind, and like a rolling thing before the whirlwind.

Genesis 17 - Listen
4 As for me, behold, my covenant is with thee, and thou shalt be a father of many nations.
5 Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee.
6 And I will make thee exceeding fruitful, and I will make nations of thee, and kings shall come out of thee.
14 And the uncircumcised man child whose flesh of his foreskin is not circumcised, that soul shall be cut off from his people; he hath broken my covenant.
16 And I will bless her, and give thee a son also of her: yea, I will bless her, and she shall be a mother of nations; kings of people shall be of her.
20 And as for Ishmael, I have heard thee: Behold, I have blessed him, and will make him fruitful, and will multiply him exceedingly; twelve princes shall he beget, and I will make him a great nation.

Joshua 17 - Listen
14 And the children of Joseph spake unto Joshua, saying, Why hast thou given me but one lot and one portion to inherit, seeing I am a great people, forasmuch as the LORD hath blessed me hitherto?
15 And Joshua answered them, If thou be a great people, then get thee up to the wood country, and cut down for thyself there in the land of the Perizzites and of the giants, if mount Ephraim be too narrow for thee.
17 And Joshua spake unto the house of Joseph, even to Ephraim and to Manasseh, saying, Thou art a great people, and hast great power: thou shalt not have one lot only:

Joshua 17 - Listen
1 There was also a lot for the tribe of Manasseh; for he was the firstborn of Joseph; to wit, for Machir the firstborn of Manasseh, the father of Gilead: because he was a man of war, therefore he had Gilead and Bashan.
2 There was also a lot for the rest of the children of Manasseh by their families; for the children of Abiezer, and for the children of Helek, and for the children of Asriel, and for the children of Shechem, and for the children of Hepher, and for the children of Shemida: these were the male children of Manasseh the son of Joseph by their families.
5 And there fell ten portions to Manasseh, beside the land of Gilead and Bashan, which were on the other side Jordan;
14 And the children of Joseph spake unto Joshua, saying, Why hast thou given me but one lot and one portion to inherit, seeing I am a great people, forasmuch as the LORD hath blessed me hitherto?
17 And Joshua spake unto the house of Joseph, even to Ephraim and to Manasseh, saying, Thou art a great people, and hast great power: thou shalt not have one lot only:

Isaiah 17 2Samuel 17

Multitude, Sea and Water

Notice that Absalom sought to fight his father David and gathered everyone in Israel like the sand of the sea. But God was with David and he won the battle, just as he says in Isaiah 17 that God rebuked the masses who came against his people. And the same can be said in the story of Esther, the 17th book of the bible.

2Samuel 17 - Listen
11 Therefore I counsel that all Israel be generally gathered unto thee, from Dan even to Beersheba, as the sand that is by the sea for multitude; and that thou go to battle in thine own person.
20 And when Absalom's servants came to the woman to the house, they said, Where is Ahimaaz and Jonathan? And the woman said unto them, They be gone over the brook of water. And when they had sought and could not find them, they returned to Jerusalem.
21 And it came to pass, after they were departed, that they came up out of the well, and went and told king David, and said unto David, Arise, and pass quickly over the water: for thus hath Ahithophel counseled against you.

People

Isaiah 17 - Listen
12 Woe to the multitude of many people, which make a noise like the noise of the seas; and to the rushing of nations, that make a rushing like the rushing of mighty waters!

2Samuel 17 - Listen
2 And I will come upon him while he is weary and weak handed, and will make him afraid: and all the people that are with him shall flee; and I will smite the king only:
3 And I will bring back all the people unto thee: the man whom thou seekest is as if all returned: so all the people shall be in peace.
8 For, said Hushai, thou knowest thy father and his men, that they be mighty men, and they be chafed in their minds, as a bear robbed of her whelps in the field: and thy father is a man of war, and will not lodge with the people.
9 Behold, he is hid now in some pit, or in some other place: and it will come to pass, when some of them be overthrown at the first, that whosoever heareth it will say, There is a slaughter among the people that follow Absalom.
16 Now therefore send quickly, and tell David, saying, Lodge not this night in the plains of the wilderness, but speedily pass over; lest the king be swallowed up, and all the people that are with him.
22 Then David arose, and all the people that were with him, and they passed over Jordan: by the morning light there lacked not one of them that was not gone over Jordan.
29 And honey, and butter, and sheep, and cheese of kine, for David, and for the people that were with him, to eat: for they said, The people is hungry, and weary, and thirsty, in the wilderness.

Israel

Isaiah 17 - Listen
3 The fortress also shall cease from Ephraim, and the kingdom from Damascus, and the remnant of Syria: they shall be as the glory of the children of Israel, saith the LORD of hosts.
6 Yet gleaning grapes shall be left in it, as the shaking of an olive tree, two or three berries in the top of the uppermost bough, four or five in the outmost fruitful branches thereof, saith the LORD God of Israel.
7 At that day shall a man look to his Maker, and his eyes shall have respect to the Holy One of Israel.
9 In that day shall his strong cities be as a forsaken bough, and an uppermost branch, which they left because of the children of Israel: and there shall be desolation.

2Samuel 17 - Listen
4 And the saying pleased Absalom well, and all the elders of Israel.
10 And he also that is valiant, whose heart is as the heart of a lion, shall utterly melt: for all Israel knoweth that thy father is a mighty man, and they which be with him are valiant men.
11 Therefore I counsel that all Israel be generally gathered unto thee, from Dan even to Beersheba, as the sand that is by the sea for multitude; and that thou go to battle in thine own person.
13 Moreover, if he be gotten into a city, then shall all Israel bring ropes to that city, and we will draw it into the river, until there be not one small stone found there.
14 And Absalom and all the men of Israel said, The counsel of Hushai the Archite is better than the counsel of Ahithophel. For the LORD had appointed to defeat the good counsel of Ahithophel, to the intent that the LORD might bring evil upon Absalom.
15 Then said Hushai unto Zadok and to Abiathar the priests, Thus and thus did Ahithophel counsel Absalom and the elders of Israel; and thus and thus have I counseled.
24 Then David came to Mahanaim. And Absalom passed over Jordan, he and all the men of Israel with him.
25 And Absalom made Amasa captain of the host instead of Joab: which Amasa was a man's son, whose name was Ithra an Israelite, that went in to Abigail the daughter of Nahash, sister to Zeruiah Joab's mother.
26 So Israel and Absalom pitched in the land of Gilead.

2Kings 17 - Listen
10 And they set them up images and groves in every high hill, and under every green tree:
16 And they left all the commandments of the LORD their God, and made them molten images, even two calves, and made a grove, and worshipped all the host of heaven, and served Baal.
41 So these nations feared the LORD, and served their graven images, both their children, and their children's children: as did their fathers, so do they unto this day.

Multitude and Haman

Looking at Haman in the Strong's Concordance it says magnificent. However the word multitude in Hebrew is hamown as in hamowngog from Ezekiel 39 (17+22). And there are other words related to it such as noise (hamah).
Isaiah 17 - Listen
12 Woe to the multitude of many people, which make a noise like the noise of the seas; and to the rushing of nations, that make a rushing like the rushing of mighty waters!

Esther 3 - Listen
1 After these things did king Ahasuerus promote Haman the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, and advanced him, and set his seat above all the princes that were with him.
2 And all the king's servants, that were in the king's gate, bowed, and reverenced Haman: for the king had so commanded concerning him. But Mordecai bowed not, nor did him reverence.
4 Now it came to pass, when they spake daily unto him, and he hearkened not unto them, that they told Haman, to see whether Mordecai's matters would stand: for he had told them that he was a Jew.
5 And when Haman saw that Mordecai bowed not, nor did him reverence, then was Haman full of wrath.
6 And he thought scorn to lay hands on Mordecai alone; for they had shewed him the people of Mordecai: wherefore Haman sought to destroy all the Jews that were throughout the whole kingdom of Ahasuerus, even the people of Mordecai.
7 In the first month, that is, the month Nisan, in the twelfth year of king Ahasuerus, they cast Pur, that is, the lot, before Haman from day to day, and from month to month, to the twelfth month, that is, the month Adar.
8 And Haman said unto king Ahasuerus, There is a certain people scattered abroad and dispersed among the people in all the provinces of thy kingdom; and their laws are diverse from all people; neither keep they the king's laws: therefore it is not for the king's profit to suffer them.
10 And the king took his ring from his hand, and gave it unto Haman the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, the Jews' enemy.
11 And the king said unto Haman, The silver is given to thee, the people also, to do with them as it seemeth good to thee.
12 Then were the king's scribes called on the thirteenth day of the first month, and there was written according to all that Haman had commanded unto the king's lieutenants, and to the governors that were over every province, and to the rulers of every people of every province according to the writing thereof, and to every people after their language; in the name of king Ahasuerus was it written, and sealed with the king's ring.
15 The posts went out, being hastened by the king's commandment, and the decree was given in Shushan the palace. And the king and Haman sat down to drink; but the city Shushan was perplexed.

4 And Esther answered, If it seem good unto the king, let the king and Haman come this day unto the banquet that I have prepared for him.
5 Then the king said, Cause Haman to make haste, that he may do as Esther hath said. So the king and Haman came to the banquet that Esther had prepared.
8 If I have found favour in the sight of the king, and if it please the king to grant my petition, and to perform my request, let the king and Haman come to the banquet that I shall prepare for them, and I will do to morrow as the king hath said.
9 Then went Haman forth that day joyful and with a glad heart: but when Haman saw Mordecai in the king's gate, that he stood not up, nor moved for him, he was full of indignation against Mordecai.
10 Nevertheless Haman refrained himself: and when he came home, he sent and called for his friends, and Zeresh his wife.
11 And Haman told them of the glory of his riches, and the multitude of his children, and all the things wherein the king had promoted him, and how he had advanced him above the princes and servants of the king.
12 Haman said moreover, Yea, Esther the queen did let no man come in with the king unto the banquet that she had prepared but myself; and to morrow am I invited unto her also with the king.
14 Then said Zeresh his wife and all his friends unto him, Let a gallows be made of fifty cubits high, and to morrow speak thou unto the king that Mordecai may be hanged thereon: then go thou in merrily with the king unto the banquet. And the thing pleased Haman; and he caused the gallows to be made.

6 So Haman came in. And the king said unto him, What shall be done unto the man whom the king delighteth to honour? Now Haman thought in his heart, To whom would the king delight to do honour more than to myself?
7 And Haman answered the king, For the man whom the king delighteth to honour,
10 Then the king said to Haman, Make haste, and take the apparel and the horse, as thou hast said, and do even so to Mordecai the Jew, that sitteth at the king's gate: let nothing fail of all that thou hast spoken.
11 Then took Haman the apparel and the horse, and arrayed Mordecai, and brought him on horseback through the street of the city, and proclaimed before him, Thus shall it be done unto the man whom the king delighteth to honour.
12 And Mordecai came again to the king's gate. But Haman hasted to his house mourning, and having his head covered.
13 And Haman told Zeresh his wife and all his friends every thing that had befallen him. Then said his wise men and Zeresh his wife unto him, If Mordecai be of the seed of the Jews, before whom thou hast begun to fall, thou shalt not prevail against him, but shalt surely fall before him.

7 And the king arising from the banquet of wine in his wrath went into the palace garden: and Haman stood up to make request for his life to Esther the queen; for he saw that there was evil determined against him by the king.
8 Then the king returned out of the palace garden into the place of the banquet of wine; and Haman was fallen upon the bed whereon Esther was. Then said the king, Will he force the queen also before me in the house? As the word went out of king's mouth, they covered Haman's face.
9 And Harbonah, one of the chamberlains, said before the king, Behold also, the gallows fifty cubits high, which Haman had made for Mordecai, who spoken good for the king, standeth in the house of Haman. Then the king said, Hang him thereon.

11 Wherein the king granted the Jews which were in every city to gather themselves together, and to stand for their life, to destroy, to slay and to cause to perish, all the power of the people and province that would assault them, both little ones and women, and to take the spoil of them for a prey,

Isaiah 17 Esther 9

Multitude and Haman

Isaiah 17 - Listen

Esther 9 - Listen
10 The ten sons of Haman the son of Hammedatha, the enemy of the Jews, slew they; but on the spoil laid they not their hand.
12 And the king said unto Esther the queen, The Jews have slain and destroyed five hundred men in Shushan the palace, and the ten sons of Haman; what have they done in the rest of the king's provinces? now what is thy petition? and it shall be granted thee: or what is thy request further? and it shall be done.
13 Then said Esther, If it please the king, let it be granted to the Jews which are in Shushan to do to morrow also according unto this day's decree, and let Haman's ten sons be hanged upon the gallows.
14 And the king commanded it so to be done: and the decree was given at Shushan; and they hanged Haman's ten sons.
24 Because Haman the son of Hammedatha, the Agagite, the enemy of all the Jews, had devised against the Jews to destroy them, and had cast Pur, that is, the lot, to consume them, and to destroy them;

Isaiah 17 Esther 10

Multitude, Haman and People

Looking at Haman in the Strong's Concordance it says magnificent. However the word multitude in Hebrew is hamown as in hamowngog from Ezekiel 39 (17+22). And there are other words related to it such as noise (hamah).
Isaiah 17 - Listen
12 Woe to the multitude of many people, which make a noise like the noise of the seas; and to the rushing of nations, that make a rushing like the rushing of mighty waters!

Esther 10 - Listen
3 For Mordecai the Jew was next unto king Ahasuerus, and great among the Jews, and accepted of the multitude of his brethren, seeking the wealth of his people, and speaking peace to all his seed.

Isaiah 17 Isaiah 61

People

Notice how the flow of the text goes as in both passages at this point God has blessed his people before others.
Isaiah 17 - Listen
12 Woe to the multitude of many people, which make a noise like the noise of the seas; and to the rushing of nations, that make a rushing like the rushing of mighty waters!

Isaiah 61 - Listen
9 And their seed shall be known among the Gentiles, and their offspring among the people: all that see them shall acknowledge them, that they are the seed which the LORD hath blessed.

tree and Plant

The mentioning of trees doesn't have a direct link to each other. One is an olive tree and the other is called a tree of righteousness. While one is figurative, the other one isn't. However, there might be more to this as the two witnesses were known to be as olive trees before the LORD.

However plant/planting shows to be figurative in Isaiah 61, but not in Isaiah 17.
Isaiah 17 - Listen
6 Yet gleaning grapes shall be left in it, as the shaking of an olive tree, two or three berries in the top of the uppermost bough, four or five in the outmost fruitful branches thereof, saith the LORD God of Israel.
10 Because thou hast forgotten the God of thy salvation, and hast not been mindful of the rock of thy strength, therefore shalt thou plant pleasant plants, and shalt set it with strange slips:
11 In the day shalt thou make thy plant to grow, and in the morning shalt thou make thy seed to flourish: but the harvest shall be a heap in the day of grief and of desperate sorrow.

Isaiah 61 - Listen
3 To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.

Desolate, Desolation, City and Cities

This is a contrasting link. In Isaiah 17 cities become a desolation, whereas in Isaiah 61 desolate places become cities.
Isaiah 17 - Listen
1 The burden of Damascus. Behold, Damascus is taken away from being a city, and it shall be a ruinous heap.
2 The cities of Aroer are forsaken: they shall be for flocks, which shall lie down, and none shall make them afraid.
9 In that day shall his strong cities be as a forsaken bough, and an uppermost branch, which they left because of the children of Israel: and there shall be desolation.

Isaiah 61 - Listen
5 And strangers shall stand and feed your flocks, and the sons of the alien shall be your plowmen and your vinedressers.

Glory and Glorious

Whereas the Isaiah 17 passage shows the fading away of Israel's glory, Isaiah 61 (17+22+22) seems to bring together Esther (book 17) and Malachi (book 39: 17+22) by mentioning riches of the Gentiles (Esther) and Priests (Malachi).
Isaiah 17 - Listen
3 The fortress also shall cease from Ephraim, and the kingdom from Damascus, and the remnant of Syria: they shall be as the glory of the children of Israel, saith the LORD of hosts.
4 And in that day it shall come to pass, that the glory of Jacob shall be made thin, and the fatness of his flesh shall wax lean.

Isaiah 61 - Listen

15 But he rebelled against him in sending his ambassadors into Egypt, that they might give him horses and much people. Shall he prosper? shall he escape that doeth such things? or shall he break the covenant, and be delivered?

15 And the passengers that pass through the land, when any seeth a man's bone, then shall he set up a sign by it, till the buriers have buried it in the valley of Hamongog.
16 And also the name of the city shall be Hamonah. Thus shall they cleanse the land.

13 Yea, all the people of the land shall bury them; and it shall be to them a renown the day that I shall be glorified, saith the Lord GOD.
27 When I have brought them again from the people, and gathered them out of their enemies' lands, and am sanctified in them in the sight of many nations;

11 And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will give unto Gog a place there of graves in Israel, the valley of the passengers on the east of the sea: and it shall stop the noses of the passengers: and there shall they bury Gog and all his multitude: and they shall call it The valley of Hamongog.
12 And seven months shall the house of Israel be burying of them, that they may cleanse the land.
17 And, thou son of man, thus saith the Lord GOD; Speak unto every feathered fowl, and to every beast of the field, Assemble yourselves, and come; gather yourselves on every side to my sacrifice that I do sacrifice for you, even a great sacrifice upon the mountains of Israel, that ye may eat flesh, and drink blood.
22 So the house of Israel shall know that I am the LORD their God from that day and forward.
23 And the heathen shall know that the house of Israel went into captivity for their iniquity: because they trespassed against me, therefore hid I my face from them, and gave them into the hand of their enemies: so fell they all by the sword.
25 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Now will I bring again the captivity of Jacob, and have mercy upon the whole house of Israel, and will be jealous for my holy name;

5 And your eyes shall see, and ye shall say, The LORD will be magnified from the border of Israel.

Desolate and Desolation

Isaiah 17 is in contrast of this passage. However Isaiah 61 links to this.

9 In that day shall his strong cities be as a forsaken bough, and an uppermost branch, which they left because of the children of Israel: and there shall be desolation.

Malachi 1 - Listen
4 Whereas Edom saith, We are impoverished, but we will return and build the desolate places; thus saith the LORD of hosts, They shall build, but I will throw down; and they shall call them, The border of wickedness, and, The people against whom the LORD hath indignation for ever.

Flock

Isaiah 17 - Listen
2 The cities of Aroer are forsaken: they shall be for flocks, which shall lie down, and none shall make them afraid.

Malachi 1 - Listen
14 But cursed be the deceiver, which hath in his flock a male, and voweth, and sacrificeth unto the LORD a corrupt thing: for I am a great King, saith the LORD of hosts, and my name is dreadful among the heathen.

Pleas

Isaiah 17 - Listen
10 Because thou hast forgotten the God of thy salvation, and hast not been mindful of the rock of thy strength, therefore shalt thou plant pleasant plants, and shalt set it with strange slips:

Malachi 1 - Listen
8 And if ye offer the blind for sacrifice, is it not evil? and if ye offer the lame and sick, is it not evil? offer it now unto thy governor; will he be pleased with thee, or accept thy person? saith the LORD of hosts.
10 Who is there even among you that would shut the doors for nought? neither do ye kindle fire on mine altar for nought. I have no pleasure in you, saith the LORD of hosts, neither will I accept an offering at your hand.

Mount

Isaiah 17 - Listen
13 The nations shall rush like the rushing of many waters: but God shall rebuke them, and they shall flee far off, and shall be chased as the chaff of the mountains before the wind, and like a rolling thing before the whirlwind.

Malachi 1 - Listen
3 And I hated Esau, and laid his mountains and his heritage waste for the dragons of the wilderness.

Fruit

Isaiah 17 - Listen
6 Yet gleaning grapes shall be left in it, as the shaking of an olive tree, two or three berries in the top of the uppermost bough, four or five in the outmost fruitful branches thereof, saith the LORD God of Israel.

Malachi 1 - Listen
12 But ye have profaned it, in that ye say, The table of the LORD is polluted; and the fruit thereof, even his meat, is contemptible.

Isaiah 17 Malachi 2

People

Isaiah 17 - Listen
12 Woe to the multitude of many people, which make a noise like the noise of the seas; and to the rushing of nations, that make a rushing like the rushing of mighty waters!

Malachi 2 - Listen
9 Therefore have I also made you contemptible and base before all the people, according as ye have not kept my ways, but have been partial in the law.

Many

Isaiah 17 - Listen
12 Woe to the multitude of many people, which make a noise like the noise of the seas; and to the rushing of nations, that make a rushing like the rushing of mighty waters!
13 The nations shall rush like the rushing of many waters: but God shall rebuke them, and they shall flee far off, and shall be chased as the chaff of the mountains before the wind, and like a rolling thing before the whirlwind.

Malachi 2 - Listen
6 The law of truth was in his mouth, and iniquity was not found in his lips: he walked with me in peace and equity, and did turn many away from iniquity.
8 But ye are departed out of the way; ye have caused many to stumble at the law; ye have corrupted the covenant of Levi, saith the LORD of hosts.

Malachi 2 - Listen
11 Judah hath dealt treacherously, and an abomination is committed in Israel and in Jerusalem; for Judah hath profaned the holiness of the LORD which he loved, and hath married the daughter of a strange god.
16 For the LORD, the God of Israel, saith that he hateth putting away: for one covereth violence with his garment, saith the LORD of hosts: therefore take heed to your spirit, that ye deal not treacherously.

Glory

Isaiah 17 - Listen
3 The fortress also shall cease from Ephraim, and the kingdom from Damascus, and the remnant of Syria: they shall be as the glory of the children of Israel, saith the LORD of hosts.
4 And in that day it shall come to pass, that the glory of Jacob shall be made thin, and the fatness of his flesh shall wax lean.

Malachi 2 - Listen
2 If ye will not hear, and if ye will not lay it to heart, to give glory unto my name, saith the LORD of hosts, I will even send a curse upon you, and I will curse your blessings: yea, I have cursed them already, because ye do not lay it to heart.
