Isaiah 13 - Listen
1 The burden of Babylon, which Isaiah the son of Amoz did see. 2 Lift ye up a banner upon the high mountain, exalt the voice unto them, shake the hand, that they may go into the gates of the nobles. 3 I have commanded my sanctified ones, I have also called my mighty ones for mine anger, even them that rejoice in my highness. 4 The noise of a multitude in the mountains, like as of a great people; a tumultuous noise of the kingdoms of nations gathered together: the LORD of hosts mustereth the host of the battle. 5 They come from a far country, from the end of heaven, even the LORD, and the weapons of his indignation, to destroy the whole land. 6 Howl ye; for the day of the LORD is at hand; it shall come as a destruction from the Almighty. 7 Therefore shall all hands be faint, and every man's heart shall melt: 8 And they shall be afraid: pangs and sorrows shall take hold of them; they shall be in pain as a woman that travaileth: they shall be amazed one at another; their faces shall be as flames. 9 Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, cruel both with wrath and fierce anger, to lay the land desolate: and he shall destroy the sinners thereof out of it. 10 For the stars of heaven and the constellations thereof shall not give their light: the sun shall be darkened in his going forth, and the moon shall not cause her light to shine. 11 And I will punish the world for their evil, and the wicked for their iniquity; and I will cause the arrogancy of the proud to cease, and will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible. 12 I will make a man more precious than fine gold; even a man than the golden wedge of Ophir. 13 Therefore I will shake the heavens, and the earth shall remove out of her place, in the wrath of the LORD of hosts, and in the day of his fierce anger. 14 And it shall be as the chased roe, and as a sheep that no man taketh up: they shall every man turn to his own people, and flee every one into his own land. 15 Every one that is found shall be thrust through; and every one that is joined unto them shall fall by the sword. 16 Their children also shall be dashed to pieces before their eyes; their houses shall be spoiled, and their wives ravished. 17 Behold, I will stir up the Medes against them, which shall not regard silver; and as for gold, they shall not delight in it. 18 Their bows also shall dash the young men to pieces; and they shall have no pity on the fruit of the womb; their eye shall not spare children. 19 And Babylon, the glory of kingdoms, the beauty of the Chaldees' excellency, shall be as when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah. 20 It shall never be inhabited, neither shall it be dwelt in from generation to generation: neither shall the Arabian pitch tent there; neither shall the shepherds make their fold there. 21 But wild beasts of the desert shall lie there; and their houses shall be full of doleful creatures; and owls shall dwell there, and satyrs shall dance there. 22 And the wild beasts of the islands shall cry in their desolate houses, and dragons in their pleasant palaces: and her time is near to come, and her days shall not be prolonged. |
Habakkuk 1 - Listen
1 The burden which Habakkuk the prophet did see. 2 O LORD, how long shall I cry, and thou wilt not hear! [even] cry out unto thee [of] violence, and thou wilt not save! 3 Why dost thou shew me iniquity, and cause [me] to behold grievance? for spoiling and violence [are] before me: and there are [that] raise up strife and contention. 4 Therefore the law is slacked, and judgment doth never go forth: for the wicked doth compass about the righteous; therefore wrong judgment proceedeth. 5 Behold ye among the heathen, and regard, and wonder marvellously: for [I] will work a work in your days, [which] ye will not believe, though it be told [you]. 6 For, lo, I raise up the Chaldeans, [that] bitter and hasty nation, which shall march through the breadth of the land, to possess the dwellingplaces [that are] not theirs. 7 They [are] terrible and dreadful: their judgment and their dignity shall proceed of themselves. 8 Their horses also are swifter than the leopards, and are more fierce than the evening wolves: and their horsemen shall spread themselves, and their horsemen shall come from far; they shall fly as the eagle [that] hasteth to eat. 9 They shall come all for violence: their faces shall sup up [as] the east wind, and they shall gather the captivity as the sand. 10 And they shall scoff at the kings, and the princes shall be a scorn unto them: they shall deride every strong hold; for they shall heap dust, and take it. 11 Then shall [his] mind change, and he shall pass over, and offend, [imputing] this his power unto his god. 12 [Art] thou not from everlasting, O LORD my God, mine Holy One? we shall not die. O LORD, thou hast ordained them for judgment; and, O mighty God, thou hast established them for correction. 13 [Thou art] of purer eyes than to behold evil, and canst not look on iniquity: wherefore lookest thou upon them that deal treacherously, [and] holdest thy tongue when the wicked devoureth [the man that is] more righteous than he? 14 And makest men as the fishes of the sea, as the creeping things, [that have] no ruler over them? 15 They take up all of them with the angle, they catch them in their net, and gather them in their drag: therefore they rejoice and are glad. 16 Therefore they sacrifice unto their net, and burn incense unto their drag; because by them their portion [is] fat, and their meat plenteous. 17 Shall they therefore empty their net, and not spare continually to slay the nations? |

Habakkuk 2 - Listen
1 I will stand upon my watch, and set me upon the tower, and will watch to see what he will say unto me, and what I shall answer when I am reproved. 2 And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make [it] plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it. 3 For the vision [is] yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry. 4 Behold, his soul [which] is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith. 5 Yea also, because he transgresseth by wine, [he is] a proud man, neither keepeth at home, who enlargeth his desire as hell, and [is] as death, and cannot be satisfied, but gathereth unto him all nations, and heapeth unto him all people: 6 Shall not all these take up a parable against him, and a taunting proverb against him, and say, Woe to him that increaseth [that which is] not his! how long? and to him that ladeth himself with thick clay! 7 Shall they not rise up suddenly that shall bite thee, and awake that shall vex thee, and thou shalt be for booties unto them? 8 Because thou hast spoiled many nations, all the remnant of the people shall spoil thee; because of men's blood, and [for] the violence of the land, of the city, and of all that dwell therein. 9 Woe to him that coveteth an evil covetousness to his house, that he may set his nest on high, that he may be delivered from the power of evil! 10 Thou hast consulted shame to thy house by cutting off many people, and hast sinned [against] thy soul. 11 For the stone shall cry out of the wall, and the beam out of the timber shall answer it. 12 Woe to him that buildeth a town with blood, and stablisheth a city by iniquity! 13 Behold, [is it] not of the LORD of hosts that the people shall labour in the very fire, and the people shall weary themselves for very vanity? 14 For the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea. 15 Woe unto him that giveth his neighbour drink, that puttest thy bottle to [him], and makest [him] drunken also, that thou mayest look on their nakedness! 16 Thou art filled with shame for glory: drink thou also, and let thy foreskin be uncovered: the cup of the LORD'S right hand shall be turned unto thee, and shameful spewing [shall be] on thy glory. 17 For the violence of Lebanon shall cover thee, and the spoil of beasts, [which] made them afraid, because of men's blood, and for the violence of the land, of the city, and of all that dwell therein. 18 What profiteth the graven image that the maker thereof hath graven it; the molten image, and a teacher of lies, that the maker of his work trusteth therein, to make dumb idols? 19 Woe unto him that saith to the wood, Awake; to the dumb stone, Arise, it shall teach! Behold, it [is] laid over with gold and silver, and [there is] no breath at all in the midst of it. 20 But the LORD [is] in his holy temple: let all the earth keep silence before him. |

Habakkuk 3 - Listen
1 A prayer of Habakkuk the prophet upon Shigionoth. 2 O LORD, I have heard thy speech, [and] was afraid: O LORD, revive thy work in the midst of the years, in the midst of the years make known; in wrath remember mercy. 3 God came from Teman, and the Holy One from mount Paran. Selah. His glory covered the heavens, and the earth was full of his praise. 4 And [his] brightness was as the light; he had horns [coming] out of his hand: and there [was] the hiding of his power. 5 Before him went the pestilence, and burning coals went forth at his feet. 6 He stood, and measured the earth: he beheld, and drove asunder the nations; and the everlasting mountains were scattered, the perpetual hills did bow: his ways [are] everlasting. 7 I saw the tents of Cushan in affliction: [and] the curtains of the land of Midian did tremble. 8 Was the LORD displeased against the rivers? [was] thine anger against the rivers? [was] thy wrath against the sea, that thou didst ride upon thine horses [and] thy chariots of salvation? 9 Thy bow was made quite naked, [according] to the oaths of the tribes, [even thy] word. Selah. Thou didst cleave the earth with rivers. 10 The mountains saw thee, [and] they trembled: the overflowing of the water passed by: the deep uttered his voice, [and] lifted up his hands on high. 11 The sun [and] moon stood still in their habitation: at the light of thine arrows they went, [and] at the shining of thy glittering spear. 12 Thou didst march through the land in indignation, thou didst thresh the heathen in anger. 13 Thou wentest forth for the salvation of thy people , [even] for salvation with thine anointed; thou woundedst the head out of the house of the wicked, by discovering the foundation unto the neck. Selah. 14 Thou didst strike through with his staves the head of his villages: they came out as a whirlwind to scatter me: their rejoicing [was] as to devour the poor secretly. 15 Thou didst walk through the sea with thine horses, [through] the heap of great waters. 16 When I heard, my belly trembled; my lips quivered at the voice: rottenness entered into my bones, and I trembled in myself, that I might rest in the day of trouble: when he cometh up unto the people, he will invade them with his troops. 17 Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither [shall] fruit [be] in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and [there shall be] no herd in the stalls: 18 Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation. 19 The LORD God [is] my strength, and he will make my feet like hinds' [feet], and he will make me to walk upon mine high places. To the chief singer on my stringed instruments. |

Isaiah 13 - Listen
1 The burden H4853 of Babylon, H894 which Isaiah H3470 the son H1121 of Amoz H531 did see. H2372 2 Lift ye up H5375 a banner H5251 upon the high H8192 mountain, H2022 exalt H7311 the voice H6963 unto them, shake H5130 the hand, H3027 that they may go H935 into the gates H6607 of the nobles. H5081 3 I have commanded H6680 my sanctified ones, H6942 I have also called H7121 my mighty ones H1368 for mine anger, H639 even them that rejoice H5947 in my highness. H1346 4 The noise H6963 of a multitude H1995 in the mountains, H2022 like as H1823 of a great H7227 people; H5971 a tumultuous H7588 noise H6963 of the kingdoms H4467 of nations H1471 gathered together: H622 the LORD H3068 of hosts H6635 mustereth H6485 the host H6635 of the battle. H4421 5 They come H935 from a far H4801 country, H776 from the end H7097 of heaven, H8064 even the LORD, H3068 and the weapons H3627 of his indignation, H2195 to destroy H2254 the whole land. H776 6 Howl H3213 ye; for the day H3117 of the LORD H3068 is at hand; H7138 it shall come H935 as a destruction H7701 from the Almighty. H7706 7 Therefore shall all hands H3027 be faint, H7503 and every man's H582 heart H3824 shall melt: H4549 8 And they shall be afraid: H926 pangs H6735 and sorrows H2256 shall take hold H270 of them; they shall be in pain H2342 as a woman that travaileth: H3205 they shall be amazed H8539 one H376 at another; H7453 their faces H6440 shall be as flames. H3851 9 Behold, the day H3117 of the LORD H3068 cometh, H935 cruel H394 both with wrath H5678 and fierce H2740 anger, H639 to lay H7760 the land H776 desolate: H8047 and he shall destroy H8045 the sinners H2400 thereof out of it. 10 For the stars H3556 of heaven H8064 and the constellations H3685 thereof shall not give H1984 their light: H216 the sun H8121 shall be darkened H2821 in his going forth, H3318 and the moon H3394 shall not cause her light H216 to shine. H5050 11 And I will punish H6485 the world H8398 for their evil, H7451 and the wicked H7563 for their iniquity; H5771 and I will cause the arrogancy H1347 of the proud H2086 to cease, H7673 and will lay low H8213 the haughtiness H1346 of the terrible. H6184 12 I will make a man H582 more precious H3365 than fine gold; H6337 even a man H120 than the golden wedge H3800 of Ophir. H211 13 Therefore I will shake H7264 the heavens, H8064 and the earth H776 shall remove H7493 out of her place, H4725 in the wrath H5678 of the LORD H3068 of hosts, H6635 and in the day H3117 of his fierce H2740 anger. H639 14 And it shall be as the chased H5080 roe, H6643 and as a sheep H6629 that no man taketh up: H6908 they shall every man H376 turn H6437 to his own people, H5971 and flee H5127 every one H376 into his own land. H776 15 Every one that is found H4672 shall be thrust through; H1856 and every one that is joined H5595 unto them shall fall H5307 by the sword. H2719 16 Their children H5768 also shall be dashed to pieces H7376 before their eyes; H5869 their houses H1004 shall be spoiled, H8155 and their wives H802 ravished. H7901 H7693 17 Behold, I will stir up H5782 the Medes H4074 against them, which shall not regard H2803 silver; H3701 and as for gold, H2091 they shall not delight H2654 in it. 18 Their bows H7198 also shall dash H7376 H0 the young men H5288 to pieces; H7376 and they shall have no pity H7355 on the fruit H6529 of the womb; H990 their eye H5869 shall not spare H2347 children. H1121 19 And Babylon, H894 the glory H6643 of kingdoms, H4467 the beauty H8597 of the Chaldees' H3778 excellency, H1347 shall be as when God H430 overthrew H4114 Sodom H5467 and Gomorrah. H6017 20 It shall never H5331 be inhabited, H3427 neither shall it be dwelt H7931 in from generation H1755 to generation: H1755 neither shall the Arabian H6163 pitch tent H167 there; neither shall the shepherds H7462 make their fold H7257 there. 21 But wild beasts of the desert H6728 shall lie H7257 there; and their houses H1004 shall be full H4390 of doleful creatures; H255 and owls H1323 H3284 shall dwell H7931 there, and satyrs H8163 shall dance H7540 there. 22 And the wild beasts of the islands H338 shall cry H6030 in their desolate houses, H490 and dragons H8577 in their pleasant H6027 palaces: H1964 and her time H6256 is near H7138 to come, H935 and her days H3117 shall not be prolonged. [Habakkuk 2:2 KJV] And the LORD[H3068] answered[H6030] me, and said, Write the vision, and make [it] plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth[H7121] it. [Habakkuk 2:3 KJV] For the vision [is] yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely[H935] come,[H935] it will not tarry. [Habakkuk 2:5 KJV] Yea also, because he transgresseth by wine, [he is] a proud man, neither keepeth at home, who enlargeth his desire as hell, and [is] as death, and cannot be satisfied, but gathereth[H622] unto him all nations,[H1471] and heapeth[H6908] unto him all people:[H5971] [Habakkuk 2:6 KJV] Shall not all these take up[H5375] a parable against him, and a taunting proverb against him, and say, Woe to him that increaseth [that which is] not his! how long? and to him that ladeth himself with thick clay! [Habakkuk 2:8 KJV] Because thou hast spoiled many[H7227] nations,[H1471] all the remnant of the people[H5971] shall spoil thee; because of men's[H120] blood, and [for] the violence of the land,[H776] of the city, and of all that dwell[H3427] therein. [Habakkuk 2:9 KJV] Woe to him that coveteth an evil[H7451] covetousness to his house,[H1004] that he may set[H7760] his nest on high, that he may be delivered from the power of evil![H7451] [Habakkuk 2:10 KJV] Thou hast consulted shame to thy house[H1004] by cutting off many[H7227] people,[H5971] and hast sinned [against] thy soul. [Habakkuk 2:11 KJV] For the stone shall cry out of the wall, and the beam out of the timber shall answer[H6030] it. [Habakkuk 2:13 KJV] Behold, [is it] not of the LORD[H3068] of hosts[H6635] that the people[H5971] shall labour in the very fire, and the people shall weary themselves for very vanity? [Habakkuk 2:14 KJV] For the earth[H776] shall be filled[H4390] with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD,[H3068] as the waters cover the sea. [Habakkuk 2:15 KJV] Woe unto him that giveth his neighbour[H7453] drink, that puttest thy bottle to [him], and makest [him] drunken also, that thou mayest look on their nakedness! [Habakkuk 2:16 KJV] Thou art filled with shame for glory: drink thou also, and let thy foreskin be uncovered: the cup of the LORD'S[H3068] right hand shall be turned unto thee, and shameful spewing [shall be] on thy glory. [Habakkuk 2:17 KJV] For the violence of Lebanon shall cover thee, and the spoil[H7701] of beasts, [which] made them afraid, because of men's[H120] blood, and for the violence of the land,[H776] of the city, and of all that dwell[H3427] therein. [Habakkuk 2:19 KJV] Woe unto him that saith to the wood, Awake; to the dumb stone, Arise,[H5782] it shall teach! Behold, it [is] laid over with gold[H2091] and silver,[H3701] and [there is] no breath at all in the midst of it. [Habakkuk 2:20 KJV] But the LORD[H3068] [is] in his holy temple:[H1964] let all the earth[H776] keep silence before[H6440] him. |

[Habakkuk 3:2 KJV] O LORD,[H3068] I have heard thy speech, [and] was afraid: O LORD,[H3068] revive thy work in the midst of the years, in the midst of the years make known; in wrath remember mercy.[H7355] [Habakkuk 3:3 KJV] God came[H935] from Teman, and the Holy One from mount[H2022] Paran. Selah. His glory covered the heavens,[H8064] and the earth[H776] was full[H4390] of his praise. [Habakkuk 3:4 KJV] And [his] brightness was as the light;[H216] he had horns [coming] out of his hand:[H3027] and there [was] the hiding of his power. [Habakkuk 3:5 KJV] Before[H6440] him went the pestilence, and burning coals went forth[H3318] at his feet. [Habakkuk 3:6 KJV] He stood, and measured the earth:[H776] he beheld, and drove asunder the nations;[H1471] and the everlasting mountains were scattered, the perpetual hills did bow: his ways [are] everlasting. [Habakkuk 3:7 KJV] I saw the tents of Cushan in affliction: [and] the curtains of the land[H776] of Midian did tremble.[H7264] [Habakkuk 3:8 KJV] Was the LORD[H3068] displeased against the rivers? [was] thine anger[H639] against the rivers? [was] thy wrath[H5678] against the sea, that thou didst ride upon thine horses [and] thy chariots of salvation? [Habakkuk 3:9 KJV] Thy bow[H7198] was made quite naked, [according] to the oaths of the tribes, [even thy] word. Selah. Thou didst cleave the earth[H776] with rivers. [Habakkuk 3:10 KJV] The mountains[H2022] saw thee, [and] they trembled:[H2342] the overflowing of the water passed by: the deep uttered his voice,[H6963] [and] lifted up[H5375] his hands[H3027] on high. [Habakkuk 3:11 KJV] The sun[H8121] [and] moon[H3394] stood still in their habitation: at the light[H216] of thine arrows they went, [and] at the shining of thy glittering spear. [Habakkuk 3:12 KJV] Thou didst march through the land[H776] in indignation,[H2195] thou didst thresh the heathen[H1471] in anger.[H639] [Habakkuk 3:13 KJV] Thou wentest forth[H3318] for the salvation of thy people ,[H5971] [even] for salvation with thine anointed; thou woundedst the head out of the house[H1004] of the wicked,[H7563] by discovering the foundation unto the neck. Selah. [Habakkuk 3:15 KJV] Thou didst walk through the sea with thine horses, [through] the heap of great[H7227] waters. [Habakkuk 3:16 KJV] When I heard, my belly[H990] trembled;[H7264] my lips quivered at the voice:[H6963] rottenness entered[H935] into my bones, and I trembled[H7264] in myself, that I might rest in the day[H3117] of trouble: when he cometh up unto the people,[H5971] he will invade them with his troops. [Habakkuk 3:17 KJV] Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither [shall] fruit [be] in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock[H6629] shall be cut off from the fold, and [there shall be] no herd in the stalls: [Habakkuk 3:18 KJV] Yet I will rejoice in the LORD,[H3068] I will joy in the God[H430] of my salvation. [Habakkuk 3:19 KJV] The LORD God [is] my strength, and he will make[H7760] my feet like hinds' [feet], and he will make me to walk upon mine high places.
